With every new Dishoom, we imagine an Irani café rooted in a different chapter of Bombay's history. We then write an accompanying story – a founding myth that guides every last detail of the space. Our Borough café is no different. With Shakespeare’s Globe a short walk away, we naturally began with Romeo and Juliet. Its legendary prologue takes sonnet form, as does every stanza of another cherished text: Vikram Seth’s The Golden Gate. And so, crafting a sonnet of our own felt entirely fitting.

Set in 1950s Bombay, amid the clamour of Crawford Market, the tale follows two young lovers caught between rival families and faiths. As you glance about our Borough café, allow us to set the scene of two people who should never have looked at each other...

Rajan and Laila. From Bombay With Love.

Much drama and the heartbreak of two people who should never have looked at each other.

Welcome to

Dishoom Borough

1950s Bombay, Crawford Market. Everywhere: light, chatter, spices, fruits, vegetables and flowers in vivid displays. Loud calls from vendors proclaim the excellence of their wares. And beneath it all, a darker trade of hush-hush deals and hafta. It is in this world we lay our scene…

Dishoom Borough comes to life amid the clamouring backdrop of Bombay’s Crawford Market, at 11–13 Park Street. Open all day, every day, serving Bombay comfort food for breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening tipples. All are welcome.

Food & Drink

At Dishoom Borough

BEGIN YOUR DAY at Dishoom with breakfast or brunch, which might be a Bacon Naan Roll, a Benne Dosa (with melty-cheesy-potato insides) or Cinnamon-Jaggery Pancakes. Tired heads will be happily refreshed with bottomless House Chai or perhaps a round of Bloody-Gosh Marys. Lunch lightly on a Paneer Roomali Roll and Pineapple Chaat Salad, or linger with a feast of grills and café favourites.

As evening falls, Gimlets, Sours and crisp Kingfishers pour giddy from the bar. And for dinner, no quarrel can be had with a good and proper Chicken Ruby, signature House Black Daal and slow-cooked biryanis. Fill bellies. Loosen belts.

KERALAN PEPPER CHICKEN

You never tasted such delight. Butterflied chicken, black as night from bountiful spice, roasted slowly ’til smoky, but soft. A boat of coconut-mellowed pipil-pepper and curry-leaf sauce sits alongside. Douse it, then mop with flaky-golden Malabar paratha. Crunch the crisp onion salad – tickle the senses.

All day menu

BLACK & THUNDER FLIP (UP)

A coupling of two Indian loves: Johnnie Walker Black Label Scotch and Thums Up (cola). Vigorously reduced with cinnamon, then chilled and richly frothed with whole egg, cream and nutmeg. Finishing is such sweet sorrow. Sip and sin again.
