Much-loved Bombay comfort food

Halal dining at Dishoom Borough

Dishoom Borough

First-class Halal Feasting

For a delectable selection of halal dishes, pay a visit to Dishoom Borough. Nestled in the Hop Exchange, near the spice traders and merchants of Borough Market, you'll find true Bombay comfort food – inspired by treasured corners of the city. From lunch onwards, a host of halal-friendly favourites await: flavoursome grills, small plates, moreish chaats and our lavish café special: Keralan Pepper Chicken.

All our lamb, chicken and turkey are sourced from halal-certified suppliers (we keep copies of the certificates), and all non-halal items are stored and prepared separately.

Book ahead, or just walk in. Available daily from 12pm.

HALAL-FRIENDLY FARE IN BOROUGH

Dine early or late. Graze on halal-friendly small plates and finest snackery, and feast on Dishoom favourites – including our berry-studded Chicken Berry Britannia and slow-simmered House Black Daal. An array of vegetarian delights, too. Or simply quench thirsts with lovingly-brewed House Chai and deeply drinkable teetotal tipples – not a single drop of alcohol within. Perhaps a Mango Lassi, sparkling Sharbat or nostalgic Thums Up.

Favourites to share

Keralan Pepper Chicken:— You never tasted such delight. Butterflied chicken, black as night from bountiful spice, roasted slowly ’til smoky, but soft. A boat of coconut-mellowed pipil-pepper and curry-leaf sauce sits alongside. Douse it, then mop with flaky-golden Malabar paratha. Crunch the crisp onion salad – tickle the senses.

Dishoom House Chaat

Chicken Ruby:— Tender halal chicken in a rich, silky makhani sauce. A good and proper curry redolent with spice and flavour.

Dishoom House Chaat:— Warm-cold, sweet-tangy, moreish. Golden-fried sweet potato covered with cool yoghurt, pomegranate, beetroot, radish and carrot. Tamarind drizzle and green chutney lift it nicely.

FAQs

‌‌‌

Dietary

Our lamb, chicken and turkey all come from halal-certified suppliers – certificates are available, should you wish to see them. We do serve some non-halal items too, including alcohol, sausages and bacon. These are always prepared separately: cooked on their own griddles and pans, with utensils washed thoroughly afterwards, and stored apart in our fridges. Our animals are also stunned before slaughter, in line with our commitment to ethical sourcing.

Bookings

Book anytime before 6pm. After 6pm, bookings are open for groups of 6+. If your desired time isn't available, simply come along – we keep most of our tables for walk-ins.
