Chai is pouring – conversation is flowing

Chai Pe Charcha

These are intimate gatherings in our cafés that engage in deep & meaningful dialogue over complex topics stemming from South Asian culture all over bottomless chai and snackery.

Chatting over chai may be a simple act, but we believe it is a powerful one. Join us on Dishoom Shoreditch’s peaceful indoor verandah for an intimate two-way conversation – guided by the host and shaped by those who gather. Come as you are, listen deeply, speak as and when you wish. Savour shared reflections, plentiful perspectives and ample anecdotes, alongside bottomless chai and fluffiest Bun Maska for generous dipping. As the final sweet dregs of chai are sipped – new friendships forged and old taboos aired – with community and connection spilling across the room. Depart a little lighter.

Our upcoming gathering

Making Sense of Our Immigrant Selves

On Friday 24th April, join Dishoom co-founder Shamil Thakrar for an intimate chat about identity, displacement and creativity, over bottomless chai and delectable snackery.

OUR CHARITY PARTNER

Seeds of Peace

All proceeds from our Chai Pe Charcha conversations are donated to Seeds of Peace, a non-political charity that helps teenagers from conflict regions to learn the skills of making peace. For over 30 years, through their inspirational work, the next generation of young leaders from areas such as Palestine and Israel are learning how to tackle the issues that divide them and that fuel oppression, hatred and violence between their communities. Seeds of Peace brings young people from South Asia, the Middle East, the US and the UK together in leadership camps to share their experiences of the conflict, so they learn to see each other as humans. They arrive expecting to meet the enemy, and leave with deep new friendships, which can literally bring peace. Across the globe, nearly 9,000 Seeds of Peace alumni are united in fostering just and inclusive communities. To learn more about their fantastic work, please visit seedsofpeace.org.
